Ruth has adapted her own and other people's work for Radio 4, Islington Children's Festival – where she wrote and performed in her play Smelly Sock Soup, and television.

Channel 4 and Henson’s hired Ruth to write scripts for the BAFTA award winning Hoobs. She's also written animation scripts for RTE and has other projects in development

Ruth teaches the Introduction to Children's Fiction course at Middlesex University Summer School and has also tutored for the Arvon Foundation.

She gives individual manuscript critiques and phone consultations as well as running workshops for groups of adults and children.

Ruth is an experienced guest speaker whose engagements have included TV's Richard and Judy Show - where she was also one of the judges of the Write a Children's Short Story Competition.

Other engagements have included Swanwick's Annual Writer's Conference, The Word Festival and the Book Week at the Barbican Library.

She regular gives to adults - both day talks and shorter question and answer sessions. Her wide range of books means she has a variety of lively and fun talks and workshops to cover all age groups of children.

Roles on TV have included The Teacher in The Navy. Ruth has also done commercials and film work. On stage she's played Jill Goose in the pantomime Mother Goose, Married Woman in The Blue Room and Phebe in As You Like It.

Her vocal range is soprano and alto and has led to performances in Jonah Man Jazz, Joseph, and The Mikado. As well as operas including: Die Fledermaus, Carmen, and The Magic Flute.

Ruth has led acting workshops at the Barbican Library using her play Smelly Sock Soup and performed as the witch in Sleeping Beauty for TIE.
